Name: Josh Archibald 2012-13 Club: Nebraska-Omaha (NCAA)
Height/Weight: 5’10, 161
DOB: 10/6/1992
National Team: USA ![]()
Drafted: 6th round (174th overall), 2011 (Pittsburgh)
Out of: Brainerd High (USHS)
Acquired: Draft
Player Type: Sniper
Comparable: David Booth
Assets: Heavy, accurate wrist shot, finishes checks with passion, skating speed
Could improve: Puck control, stickhandling in traffic, must limit turnovers, must add weight and size
Projected: Archibald is a very underrated prospect, and made the 2011 USA Junior Team by making an impression in their training camp. As he’s entering his second season of college hockey, Archibald has top-9 NHL forward potential. His nasty edge and gritty style of play could end him in a bottom-6 role, as well. His mix of speed, grit, and offensive ability seems like it could separate him from the pack in the future. His skating could get to a very high level.
Scouting Report:
- Randy Sexton, assistant director of amateur scouting:
“Very good speed, physical, aggressive. He put up good numbers in the Minnesota High School league.”
